I wish I could believe that she "had nothing but good things to say about Shirley", but my own experience suggests otherwise. While I never met Alice Faye, I did get to know Frank Moshier quite well, and he was crystal-clear in the remarks he attributed to Alice herself. I especially remember how adamant he was that Alice never referred to Shirley as anything but "that Temple child" -- which clearly connotes a distinct lack of affection.

It's possible, of course, that Frank was merely projecting his own (rather bitchy) attitude toward Shirley onto Alice. I don't know, and as I said, both Alice and Frank are beyond asking about it now. But that wasn't my impression at the time, and I stand by my recollection of what he told me. And I say again, I didn't believe these slanders against Shirley in 1972 and I don't believe them now.

And by the way, Unknown, I'm delighted that you've found your way to Cinedrome (and I've enjoyed your comments on Shirley Temple Revisited) -- but you've actually landed at the old Cinedrome, and I stopped posting here over two-and-a-half years ago. I hope you'll visit again often at my new location:
jimlanescinedrome.comJim Lanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06511475709307407487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4779097004556285780.post-67735763940307947082019-03-16T16:17:26.976-07:002019-03-16T16:17:26.976-07:00Alice Faye had nothing but good things to say abou...Alice Faye had nothing but good things to say about Shirley.
